Dr. Greg Abbott

From naïve to all in…

Growing up my life revolved around two things, sports and academics. Both areas brought about numerous accomplishments, but there was one major piece missing. I was the stereotypical natural. It wasn’t that I didn’t work hard to get better at sports and it wasn’t that I didn’t study to get grades. But I could get away with less than my best effort and still excel. This finally caught up with me when I was playing football in college and I was riddled with constant injuries and extreme seasonal allergies. Something needed to change.

I grew up going to a chiropractor but I never really understand the real value behind it. I decided to go to chiropractic school because it was a good career choice, and I had no desire to go to medical school. I didn’t really know what I would be getting myself into. It ended up being the best decision I could have made.

I met my beautiful wife, Miranda, in chiropractic school and she helped to open up my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities with my health. I was all in. It wasn’t until a few years after we graduated that I stumbled upon what would end up being my go to niche within chiropractic and alternative health.

I spent nearly 7 years away from Abbott Family Chiropractic as I had an incredible opportunity to learn and eventually teach and coach other providers the ins and outs of nutrition, supplementation, lab testing and other areas commonly considered under the umbrella of functional medicine. Being back at Abbott Family Chiropractic now allows me to take the years of teaching and coaching and apply it in a personalized way to clients in our office.

Education

I graduated from college at Elon University with a B.S. in Exercise Science. My passion from a very early age with my background in athletics was exercise as it applies to sports performance. I had the opportunity to work with numerous professional athletes during my summers in college and thought I had it all figured out what the rest of my life would look like professionally. I soon realized that the lifestyle wasn’t conducive to the day when I would hopefully become a husband and eventually a father.

The next step in my journey was to attend chiropractic school at Life University in Marietta, GA. As I mentioned earlier, I met my wife while in school and we graduated together with our Doctor of Chiropractic degrees.

I have no other degrees to add more letters after my name, but I will forever be a lifetime learner. I am an information junkie. I can’t even keep track of how many books I have read or how many thousands of hours of podcasts I have listened to. I promise very few things in life, but one thing I will promise all of my clients. I will never stop learning!

On a Personal Note

My family is a very important part of my life. My wife, Miranda, and our 5 kids keep me on my toes every day. I take being a husband and a father very seriously. God has given me an incredible opportunity and responsibility to shepherd my family. I love studying and reading my Bible and leading my family through daily scripture lessons. At the end of the day, nothing matters more than this.

Outside of family time and time with our church family, I love to be an example for those that work with me. All things health and fitness apply to my day-to-day activities and my continued learning. I love being active and I love being outdoors, minus those pesky mosquitoes! I am an extreme homebody though. I’m a creature of routine and if it were my choice, we’d have family movie night every night!
